Detailed Ratings
Quick Facts
Pros
- FP Markets offers a smooth sign-up process, notable for accepting cryptocurrency and more than 10 base currencies. It is suitable for traders worldwide.
- FP Markets provides an excellent range of assets for trading, including a variety of commodities and more than 10,000 stocks.
- FP Markets uses advanced tools from Trading Central and Autochartist. These tools assist traders in spotting short-term trading possibilities using patterns, indicators, and other technical elements on charts.
- FP Markets offers a variety of platforms including MetaTrader, cTrader, Iress, and TradingView, making it one of the most adaptable brokers for traders.
- FP Markets provides reliable support 24/5, usually responding within one minute based on tests.
Cons
- FP Markets, with 130 available trading options in their MT4 Trader's Toolbox, doesn't match the top MetaTrader brokers, particularly when compared to Pepperstone's 1,300 assets. This may limit opportunities for dedicated traders.
- Traders Hub offers comprehensive research including Daily Report, Technical Report, Market Insights, and Fundamental Analysis. However, it needs to broaden its daily content and keep its forex news up to date to rival top platforms like IG.
- The Iress platform from FP Markets is exclusively for Australian clients. It mainly focuses on stock trading more than forex trading. Data costs can quickly add up if you're not an active trader or if you don't have a high-end account.
- The pricing in the Raw account is great, but the Standard account isn't as competitive. It has a higher average spread of 1.1 pips on EUR/USD trading, whereas IC Markets averages at 0.8 pips.
Regulation & Trust
FP Markets is a reliable broker regulated by two significant authorities, the Cyprus Securities & Exchange Commission (CySEC) and the Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC).
FP Markets also uses segregated accounts to keep funds safe, ensuring they stay separate from its operational funds.
However, there’s a drawback. FP Markets doesn’t provide negative balance protection under ASIC and the Financial Services Authority (FSA) in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
This means you could lose more than your account balance when trading through these entities.
Fortunately, it does offer this protection under CySEC.

Accounts & Banking
Live Accounts
FP Markets offers a variety of live accounts that suit traders of all levels.
You can choose between a Standard or Raw account, an Islamic swap-free option, or PAMM/MAM accounts.
Standard and Raw accounts have a minimum trade size of 0.01 lots, fast order execution, and VPS services.
You also have the flexibility to adjust leverage from the maximum 1:500 down to 1:1.
The low minimum deposit of just $40 is a great advantage, especially compared to brokers like IC Markets, which require $200.
The Standard account offers spreads starting from 1.0 pip if you prefer a commission-free option.
The Raw account charges $3 per lot for tighter spreads but provides spreads from 0.0 pips—perfect for active traders and scalpers.
FP Markets uses ECN for forex and DMA for CFD trading. By sending CFD orders directly to the market, you can get reduced spreads and faster execution.
Opening and funding an account with FP Markets is simple and fast, making the process hassle-free.
Demo Accounts
FP Markets offers a demo account through the MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5) platforms, allowing you to place orders and test strategies without any risk.
It closely mirrors a live account, but since demo trades aren’t executed in the real market, execution speed may differ.
One of the best parts is that there’s no time limit, so you can practice and learn at your own pace.
However, you have to keep it active because it expires if you don’t use it for 30 days.
Deposits & Withdrawals
Funding an FP Markets account is easy, with options like wire transfer, debit card, and various e-wallets.
While PayPal isn’t available, you can use cryptocurrencies like USDT, BTC, ETH, and LTC, a rare and valuable feature for a broker.
You can choose from 10 different account currencies, including EUR, GBP, USD, and AUD, making it convenient no matter where you’re trading.
FP Markets doesn’t charge deposit fees, though bank fees might still apply.
If you deposit over $10,000, you can even get reimbursed for those transfer fees.
Withdrawals are just as smooth, processed through the same method you used to deposit.
FP Markets doesn’t charge withdrawal fees, but third-party costs may apply. In most cases, I receive my funds within one to two working days.

Assets & Markets
FP Markets gives access to a wide range of trading assets, especially after expanding its commodities.
You can trade over 70 instruments, including precious metals like gold and silver and energy resources such as oil and natural gas.
Regarding forex, FP Markets stands out with more than 70 currency pairs, covering major, minor, and exotic options—offering more variety than most competitors we’ve tested.
If you’re interested in cryptocurrencies, you can trade popular digital assets like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Ripple.
There’s also a selection of stock CFDs to explore.
However, the instruments you can trade depend on the platform you use.
MetaTrader gives access to about 130 symbols, while the Iress platform offers global clients over 10,000 stocks, more than 70 forex pairs, four metals, 12 indices, five cryptocurrencies, and three commodities.
One drawback is the lack of passive income options. Unlike brokers such as eToro and XTB, FP Markets doesn’t offer interest on uninvested cash.
However, FP Markets makes trading easier with a detailed directory and dedicated pages for each stock CFD.
These pages include company profiles, share prices, and news, helping you make informed decisions.

Fees & Costs
FP Markets offers competitive pricing, making it one of the most cost-effective brokers, especially with its ECN account.
You can choose between two account types, each with its fee structure.
The Raw account gives direct market pricing with spreads starting from 0.0 pips and a $3 commission per side, while the Standard account is commission-free, with floating spreads starting from 1.0 pip.
From my experience, GBP/USD spreads are around 1.9 pips on the Standard account and 0.8 on the Raw account.
When trading gold, I typically see spreads of 0.18 pips on the Standard account and 0.08 pips on the Raw account.
One thing I appreciate is FP Markets’ relaxed inactivity policy.
Unlike brokers like IG, which charge a monthly inactivity fee, FP Markets deactivates accounts after three months, but you can reactivate mine anytime without any extra costs.

FP Markets allows you to trade on MT4, MT5, cTrader, TradingView, and, for Australian clients, Iress. Each platform has unique features that cater to different trading styles.
You can access these platforms on both desktop and mobile, making it easy to trade wherever you are.

cTrader offers a super-clean interface and advanced charting tools
MT4 is a go-to for its custom alerts, one-click trading, and analytics. With FP Markets’ ‘Traders Toolbox‘, you also get extra tools like market sentiment analysis, giving more insight into trades.
MT5 takes things further with additional timeframes and support for stocks and futures, making it ideal for a wide range of financial instruments.
Although cTrader doesn’t support copy trading via FP Markets, the broker does support MetaTrader’s Signal Start copy trading tool, helping you spot profitable opportunities.
Managing trades is simple, with risk management tools like take profit and stop loss built into the platforms.
The TradingView integration adds a sleek design and a variety of indicators, perfect for traders who want a modern, user-friendly experience.
Iress provides Direct Market Access for Australian traders, which means lower spreads and faster execution.

Research
FP Markets provides a solid range of research materials in the ‘Traders Hub,’ including technical and fundamental analysis.
While the resources are comprehensive, the research options could be expanded for more variety, especially compared to brokers like IG and Saxo.
You can access daily articles and videos on YouTube, while market news from institutions like Citibank and Reuters streams directly through the MetaTrader platforms.
The blog includes a ‘Daily Report,’ ‘Technical Report,’ weekly ‘Market Insights,’ and ‘Fundamental Analysis’ articles covering global markets.

FP Markets’ blog offers variety but could benefit from more regular updates
However, I’ve noticed that the ‘Forex News’ section could use more frequent updates.
FP Markets also integrates third-party research tools like Trading Central and Autochartist, which you can access through the client portal, MetaTrader, or cTrader.
Trading Central provides an economic calendar, ‘Market Buzz,’ and ‘Crowd Insight,’ allowing you to tailor data to fit your trading strategy.
These tools help you identify entry and exit points, create trade scenarios, and validate strategies with indicators while delivering real-time alerts for new opportunities and potential risks.
Education
FP Markets does a good job supporting beginner traders with various educational resources.
You have access to tutorials, webinars, articles and podcasts designed to help build skills.
Its YouTube channel is beneficial for breaking down complex trading concepts in a way that’s easy to understand.
The learning materials cover essential topics like trading strategies, technical analysis, risk management, and market analysis, making it easier to grasp the fundamentals and improve your approach.

The video courses offer a solid foundation for beginners, covering key concepts and strategies
However, with only three video courses, the ‘Advanced’ section feels a bit limited, so there’s room for more in-depth content.
I also appreciate the progress tracking and quizzes in other site sections, which help reinforce what I’ve learned.
If FP Markets expands its educational resources, it could compete even more strongly with brokers like Admiral Markets and Swissquote.
Customer Support
FP Markets offers 24/5 support through phone, email, live chat, and social media.
I’ve found the live chat quick, and an agent usually responds within a minute.
While the responses have occasional language issues, my inquiries are always addressed promptly.
The FAQ section is also helpful, covering topics like account closure, margins, withdrawals, and demo login tutorials.
Should You Trade With FP Markets?
FP Markets is a solid choice for traders at any level.
I’m particularly impressed with the exceptional trading platforms and the wide variety of available assets, all at competitive fees.
Commitment to trader education is also worth highlighting, with unique tools like comparative analysis and trend exploration that help enhance the trading experience.
Customer support is responsive and helpful, and there are secure and flexible deposit and withdrawal options, which make the process more convenient.
All of these features make FP Markets an appealing broker.
