Pros

  • Axi's new copy trading app is intuitive, offering helpful filtering options to align strategies with individual risk preferences.
  • The expanding educational resources in the Axi Academy, including free eBooks, video tutorials, and interactive quizzes, effectively support beginner traders.
  • Axi provides an excellent MT4 experience, enhanced with the NextGen plug-in for advanced order management and analytics, featuring low execution latency of about 30ms.
  • Advanced traders can now join the Axi Select funded trader program via the broker’s offshore entity, offering up to $1 million in funding with a 90% profit share.

Cons

  • Even after expanding its stock CFDs in US, UK, and EU markets, it is far less extensive than firms like BlackBull, which offer thousands of equities for diverse opportunities.
  • Axi remains reliable, but recent issues with the ASIC and FMA require it to consistently ensure a secure environment while complying with licensing conditions.
  • Axi's support is not available 24/7, which can inconvenience traders in different time zones or those needing help outside regular trading hours, despite performing well when used.
  • Axi lags behind because it only provides MT4, while many competitors now offer MT5, cTrader, TradingView, and custom software for a smoother experience with better tools.

Regulation & Trust

Rating: 3.8

Axi is regulated by the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), which gives me confidence in its strong compliance measures and the protection of up to £85,000 for UK clients.

However, our digging uncovered some issues.

In Australia, Axi’s license under the Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC) was suspended for failing to report client money, although it’s now back in good standing.

New Zealand’s Financial Markets Authority (FMA) had a similar situation with a suspended derivatives license, but Axi has since resolved that problem.

Axi also holds a license with the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA), though it can’t keep client funds there.

Its registration with the Financial Services Authority St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVGFSA) offers global access, but investor protection is more limited under that jurisdiction.

Overall, Axi legitimate, but it’s worth considering this regulatory history.

Accounts & Banking

Rating: 3.5

Live Accounts

I’ve been impressed by the variety designed to suit traders at every level, whether you’re just starting out or already trading like a pro.

The Standard Account caught my eye for its simplicity due to no commissions and spreads starting from 0.9 pips. It is an excellent fit for straightforward, no-fuss pricing.

For more experienced traders, the Pro Account offers tighter spreads, starting at 0.0 pips, and a $7 round-trip commission. If you decide to trade larger volumes, this could keep costs down.

The Spread Betting account is particularly interesting for traders in the UK and Ireland. It allows for tax-efficient trading without owning the underlying assets, which is especially appealing for short-term strategies.

If you need an account that follows Islamic finance principles, the Swap-Free Account removes overnight fees to stay compliant.

Axi also offers flexibility when setting up your account. You could choose your base currency—USD, EUR, GBP, CHF, or PLN—and trade with leverage up to 1:500.

Overall, Axi makes finding an account that fits your style and needs easy.

Demo Accounts

When I first tried Axi’s demo account, I appreciated how easy it was to get started. It runs on MetaTrader 4 (MT4), a platform I found intuitive, even as a beginner.

The account comes with $100,000 in virtual funds, giving you plenty of room to practice different strategies without risk.

However, the demo account only lasts 30 days, unlike IG and IC Markets, which offer indefinite access.

Still, it gives a solid foundation and can make you feel more confident about switching to a live account when ready.

Deposits & Withdrawals

You can use PayPal, bank wire, debit card and credit card to move money around.

Most of these methods are fee-free, and there’s a good selection of currency options, which makes things more convenient.

That said, there’s no support for crypto payments, which might be a downside for anyone who prefers digital currencies.

The minimum deposit is pretty low — just $10 for most methods and only $5 if you use a card.

When it comes to withdrawing funds, there are no fees as long as you withdraw at least $50 or close my account entirely. If you take out less than $50, there’s a $25 fee, which is something to keep in mind.

The transaction speeds are reasonable, too. Card payments and e-wallet deposits show up instantly, while bank transfers can take longer, usually between one and three days.

Assets & Markets

Rating: 3.0

Axi is well-suited for forex, thanks to the wide variety of assets available.

The platform also keeps expanding its stock offerings, regularly adding stocks from major US, UK, and EU companies.

Some additions, like Spotify and PayPal, caught my attention, along with stocks from innovative sectors like tech and electric vehicles.

Axi also makes it easy to trade CFDs, letting you speculate on the price movements without owning the real assets.

70 forex pairs are available, though brokers like Pepperstone offer more, with over 100 pairs.

You can choose from 15 commodities, but IC Markets has a broader selection of over 25.

Regarding indices, Axi gives you access to more than 15 from major global markets — not as many as IG’s impressive 80 or so, but still enough to follow key trends.

The stock selection is decent, with over 100 choices, though I can’t help but compare it to BlackBull Market’s library of over 26,000 instruments.

Depending on where you’re located, you have access to over 35 assets for crypto trading, but Eightcap has more than 120 available.

Axi would really stand out if it added more assets like ETFs, options, bonds, or interest rates—similar to what IG provides.

Fees & Costs

Rating: 3.8

Axi strikes a balance between affordability and flexibility. The spreads are competitive across the Standard and Pro accounts, giving you options depending on how you trade.

With the Standard account, there are no commissions to worry about. The spreads are reasonable, too. I’ve seen averages of about 1.3 pips for EUR/USD, 1.5 pips for GBP/USD, and 1.4 pips for AUD/USD.

It’s a straightforward setup that feels well-suited when you want to keep things simple.

On the other hand, the Pro account offers much tighter spreads, like 0.2 pips for EUR/USD, 0.5 for GBP/USD, and 0.5 for AUD/USD.

There is a $7 round-trip commission, but if you were trading frequently or dealing with larger volumes, those narrower spreads could make a noticeable difference in your costs.

One thing to remember is the inactivity fee. If you leave your account untouched for more than 12 months, Axi charges a $10 monthly fee after the first 30 days of inactivity.

It’s a small detail, but it reminds you to stay active or close the account if you ever step away from trading for a while.

It’s worth noting that some brokers, including Interactive Brokers, have no inactivity fees.

Platforms & Tools

Rating: 3.5

MetaTrader 4

Axi uses MetaTrader 4 (MT4) exclusively, an established platform used by forex traders.

It’s flexible, has useful features, and works smoothly on Android, iOS, Mac, and Windows devices.

The interface is quick, even when I’m managing multiple positions.

I like how I can customize indicators and automate strategies using MetaQuotes Language 4 (MQL4), which makes my trading more efficient.

Access your trades anytime with Axi’s browser-based MT4 WebTrader

That said, I wish Axi offered MetaTrader 5 (MT5) as it has more features and broader asset coverage, which would give even more flexibility.

I’m also slightly disappointed by the lack of support for cTrader and TradingView platforms. I use both, and I find their interfaces more modern and user-friendly.

Other brokers, like BlackBull Markets and IC Markets, provide those options, and Axi is missing out here.

I started using Axi’s copy trading app, launched in 2021, and I find it surprisingly intuitive. The app makes it easy for me to replicate the strategies of more experienced traders, which is a big help when I’m looking to learn or diversify my approach.

I like how the interface is clean and straightforward, with filters that let me narrow down strategies based on my goals and risk tolerance.

Adding VPS hosting is a nice touch, especially since it helps reduce latency. I’ve noticed my trades execute more smoothly, which gives me more confidence when timing is critical.

The platform also appeals to professionals, with its support for MAM and PAMM account management, making it easier for them to handle multiple accounts at once.

Axi Select

Axi Select, which launched in 2023, is a funded trading program where you can access progressively larger account sizes if you can show consistent returns while managing risk.

There are six stages of funding, and if you make it through, you could get access to up to $1,000,000 in trading capital. The best part is the profit split — you get to keep 90% of what you earn, which feels pretty generous compared to other programs we’ve seen.

What really caught my attention is that joining is completely free. However, there’s a catch. You have to sign up with AxiTrader Limited, which is registered offshore.

That means it operates under less regulatory oversight, which made me pause and consider the potential risks. Still, the prospect of trading with someone else’s capital while keeping most of the profits makes me seriously think about giving it a shot.

Research

Rating: 3.5

Axi’s research tools helpful, but there’s room for improvement.

The resources give a solid foundation for market analysis. Still, I’d like to see more interactive options, like live webinars and real-time commentary, which IG and Swissquote do well.

Axi offers daily market updates, which I check regularly, though the blog is average.

Screenshot showing the Axi blog

Axi’s blog provides market insights, though it could offer more in-depth technical analysis

The insights are helpful, but I wish they went deeper. I appreciate the economic calendar as it helps me stay on top of global events that impact my trades.

The calculator tools are also handy, especially when planning positions. I often use the Required Margin Calculator, Pip Calculator, and Profit/Loss Calculator to understand potential trades better.

What stands out the most, though, are the third-party tools integrated into MT4.

Autochartist and Trading Central have been game-changers for my technical analysis. They automatically flag chart patterns and potential opportunities, which saves me time and makes it easier to spot trends.

Education

Rating: 3.8

Axi puts a lot of effort into helping beginners build their skills and confidence.

The Axi Academy offers free courses on gold trading and risk management. The mix of videos, written content, and quizzes are engaging — making learning feel interactive instead of overwhelming.

I’ve also downloaded some free eBooks, which break down forex fundamentals, market analysis, and trade management into simple, digestible concepts.

Axi Academy makes learning to trade approachable with structured free courses

Whenever I must brush up on something more technical, I turn to the step-by-step video tutorials for MT4. These guides have saved me a lot of time, especially when starting and navigating the platform.

For those confusing industry terms, I like using Axi’s Trading Glossary. It’s straightforward and helps me quickly understand essential concepts without searching the Internet.

I also habitually check the blog, which regularly features market insights, tips, and trends that connect what I’m learning to what’s happening in the markets.

While I appreciate these tools, something’s missing. I’d love to see Axi introduce live webinars or mentorship programs.

Real-time interaction with experienced traders would add a whole new layer to the learning process and make applying the knowledge I’ve gained easier.

Customer Support

Rating: 3.8

Whenever you need help trading with Axi, its customer support is reliable.

I usually go for the live chat option on its website since it’s quick, and I almost always get a response within minutes.

If I need more detailed assistance, I know I can reach out via email or phone, and it’s reassuring that the team is available 24/5.

There’s toll-free phone support across multiple regions, like Australia, Germany, Singapore, and the UK, which makes it more accessible no matter where you’re trading from.

The Help Center is also a valuable tool. You can look up information about your account or get answers to common questions about the trading platform.

When you can’t find what you need there, use the client portal to submit an email request and track the response, which helps you stay on top of any ongoing issues.

That said, there’s room for improvement. I’ve had moments when I needed assistance outside of the 24/5 window, and I can see how 24/7 support would be a big help, especially for traders dealing with time zone differences.

Some brokers, including Plus500, offer 24/7 customer support.

I’d also appreciate more video tutorials for troubleshooting — sometimes, seeing a step-by-step walkthrough makes solving a problem much more manageable than reading through written instructions.

Should You Trade With Axi?

Axi is marked out by its reliable forex and CFD trading performance during testing.

The spreads are competitive, and the MT4 platform runs smoothly, giving a solid foundation for trades.

While it would be nice if a proprietary app existed, especially for a more personalized experience, Axi makes up for its substantial educational resources and responsive customer support.

Axi is reliable, but more advanced traders might look elsewhere. Other platforms may offer more variety if you’re after a broader range of assets, platforms, or lower spreads.

Still, the combination of fair pricing, dependable tools, and accessible support makes Axi a solid platform.
