Pros

  • FXTM's Advantage and Advantage Plus accounts provide tight spreads starting from 0.0 pips and charge low or no commissions, aimed at traders seeking to reduce expenses.
  • FXTM offers a wide variety of payment methods, especially local options in Africa and Asia like M-Pesa and TC Pay Wallet. E-wallet withdrawals can be processed in just 30 minutes, which is ideal for traders needing fast access to funds.
  • FXTM is a leading MetaTrader broker offering custom MT4 tools like a Pivot Point Indicator, Pip Value Calculator, and Spread Indicator for precise trading.
  • FXTM's UK division provides strong client protections, including coverage up to $1 million per client and segregated accounts, increasing security for traders with large accounts.

Cons

  • FXTM Invest was a straightforward copy trading app offering detailed performance stats and risk scores for Strategy Managers. It was discontinued in 2024, reducing options for hands-off traders.
  • FXTM provides only MetaTrader 4/5 for desktop trading and lacks a proprietary platform like eToro for a personalized experience. MT4/5 is becoming outdated for active traders.
  • FXTM's educational resources, like its e-books, have improved significantly, but they mostly cater to beginners, which may not attract experienced traders.
  • FXTM charges a $10 fee if you do not trade for three months, which is less time than many other brokers and may annoy those who trade infrequently.
  • FXTM offers CFDs and a limited selection of stocks, but does not offer ETFs, options, or futures, which may restrict diversification for traders looking for various asset types to exploit different markets.

Regulation & Trust

Rating: 4.0

FXTM is a well-established broker founded in 2011 and based in Mauritius.

It operates under multiple regulators, each with different levels of oversight, including the ‘top-tier’ Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

In contrast, Kenya’s Capital Markets Authority (CMA) is a ‘middle-tier’ regulator, and Mauritius’s Financial Services Commission (FSC) is a ‘bottom-tier’ regulator.

Funds stay secure in segregated accounts, and negative balance protection ensures you never lose more than you deposit.

The UK entity also provides a compensation scheme covering up to $1 million if FXTM faces insolvency.

High leverage options vary depending on the region, ranging from 1:30 to 1:3000.

Accounts & Banking

Rating: 3.8

Live Accounts

FXTM offers two main account types.

The Advantage account is ideal for low-cost CFD trading. Its floating spreads start at 0.0 pips, and commission fees range from $0.80 to $4 per lot. It uses ECN execution, making it an excellent choice for active traders prioritizing cost efficiency and precision.

The Advantage Plus account, on the other hand, has no commissions but comes with spreads starting at 1.5 pips. It works well for traders who prefer straightforward pricing without additional fees.

For those following Sharia law, FXTM provides a swap-free Islamic account.

Deposits start at $200 and USD, EUR, and GBP base currencies are supported. Unusually from our investigations, Nigerian traders also have the option to open NGN accounts.

Both accounts maintain standard trading conditions, including an 80% margin call and a 50% stop-out level. The minimum trade size is 0.01 lots, and all instruments are available.

Signing up quickly takes less than 10 minutes, though verification can take up to 24 hours.

Demo Accounts

FXTM’s demo account on MetaTrader 4 (MT4), MetaTrader 5 (MT5), and the proprietary Trader App lets you test strategies in a risk-free environment.

It provides real-time quotes and simulates market conditions, making it a great way to practice trading before going live.

Deposits & Withdrawals

FXTM’s deposit and withdrawal options are convenient, with choices like credit card, debit card, bank wire transfer, cryptocurrencies, and e-wallets like Skrill and Neteller.

Local payment methods, like M-Pesa in Kenya and TC Pay Wallet in Asia, make transactions accessible worldwide.

Deposits are usually instant, while most withdrawals process within 30 minutes, except for wire transfers, which take 3–5 days.

Many e-wallet withdrawals are free, but bank and card transactions may have small fees.

Currency conversion charges may also apply if you withdraw in a different currency.

FXTM’s mix of global and local payment options makes funding easy and flexible.

Assets & Markets

Rating: 3.5

FXTM gives a solid range of CFDs, including over 50 forex pairs, 300 stocks, 17 indices, 10 commodities, and 11 cryptocurrencies.

You can also trade more than 500 real US stocks.

One standout feature is the six forex indices, letting you speculate on major currencies like USD, EUR, and JPY.

While platforms like eToro and BlackBull Markets offer a broader selection, especially in stocks and crypto, FXTM works well for forex and equity traders.

It does have some limitations, though. You can’t trade ETFs, bonds, options, or futures, and asset availability depends on regulations.

There are no passive income options like earning interest on uninvested cash, and FXTM dropped its copy trading service in January 2025.

The platform provides detailed strategy stats and risk scores to help you choose wisely, and an introductory video breaks down key concepts like risk and returns, making it easy to get started.

  • Stock Exchanges: CAC 40 Index France, DAX GER 40 Index, Deutsche Boerse, Dow Jones, Euronext, FTSE UK Index, Hang Seng, IBEX 35, Nasdaq, S&P 500
  • Commodities: Gold, Natural Gas, Oil, Precious Metals, Silver
  • Crypto Coins: BTC, ETH, LTC, XRP

Fees & Costs

Rating: 3.5

FXTM has competitive fees and flexible account options, making it a solid choice for many traders.

The Advantage account gives spreads starting at 0.0 pips with commissions from $3.5 per round lot, which works well for high-volume trading.

Spreads on major pairs like EUR/USD are higher at 1.9 pips compared to the 1.2-pip industry average, but FXTM makes up for it with better spreads on indices like the Dow Jones at 1.8 pips.

One drawback is the $200 minimum deposit, which is high compared to some brokers we’ve tested like Deriv and XM, which only require $5.

FXTM also charges a $10 inactivity fee after three months, while some competitors wait a year or have no inactivity fees.

On the plus side, you don’t have to worry about a negative balance if your account is empty.

Platforms & Tools

Rating: 3.0

FXTM gives access to MT4 and MT5, both available on web browsers and desktops for Windows, MacOS, and Linux.

MT4 might look outdated, but it remains a favorite for its advanced charting, automated trading with Expert Advisors (EAs), and a solid range of technical indicators.

FXTM adds custom MT4 tools, like the ‘Pivot Point Indicator,’ ‘Pip Value Calculator,’ and ‘Spread Indicator,’ which help refine strategies.

Features like price alerts, one-click trading, and chart-based execution make trading more efficient.

You can also place market, limit, stop-loss, and trailing stop orders to protect profits during market swings.

MT4 offers advanced charting tools, automated trading options, and customizable indicators

MT5 builds on MT4 with more timeframes, extra indicators, and support for additional asset classes like stocks and commodities, making it better for algorithmic trading.

FXTM’s mobile app lets me manage my account, check real-time quotes, and analyze the markets on the go.

One area for improvement is platform variety. For instance, cTrader and TradingView offer more intuitive interfaces and depth-of-market tools.

FXTM does provide a Virtual Private Server (VPS) for seamless automated trading on MT4, but it lacks API access for custom applications, which would be a great addition.

Research

Rating: 3.8

FXTM provides solid research tools to make informed trades, including daily market analysis, an economic calendar, and insights from professional analysts.

Its coverage spans forex, commodities, indices, and cryptocurrencies, which helps traders at any level.

That said, the in-house content isn’t as frequent or detailed as some competitors.

Brokers like Exness and IG provide live feeds and video updates, making their research more comprehensive.

I’d love to see FXTM add a multi-platform newsfeed to the trading app for easier access to expert insights.

Screenshot showing FXTM's Signal Center

‘Signal Center’ provides daily trade ideas with clear entry, take-profit, and stop-loss levels

For active traders, FXTM offers ‘Signal Centre’ powered by Acuity.

It delivers daily trade ideas with entry points, take-profits, stop-losses, and confidence levels.

While it’s not fully integrated into the platform like some brokers offer, the signals cover various markets, making it useful for specialized and diversified trading strategies.

FXTM also provides third-party MetaTrader add-ons to enhance trading.

‘FX Blue’ improves charting with detailed price analysis, while Trading Central offers economic calendars and market sentiment data.

These extras make FXTM a strong choice for traders looking for diverse opportunities.

Education

Rating: 3.8

FXTM’s detailed articles, videos, and e-books should help beginners understand forex and CFD trading basics. The ‘Forex Glossary‘ is also ideal for quick references.

I appreciate how FXTM keeps up with market trends through daily analysis, offering deep insights that many brokers overlook.

The beginner guides cover essential concepts, while more advanced traders can dive into topics like scalping strategies and instruments like the Nasdaq-100.

Screenshot showing FXTM's educational articles

FXTM offers a good range of beginner-friendly guides to more advanced trading strategies

While FXTM’s education is strong, it doesn’t match the depth of brokers like IG or Interactive Brokers.

More advanced courses would be an excellent addition for experienced traders looking to refine their skills.

Interactive tools like simulators or quizzes would also improve the learning experience.

A structured certification program, similar to those at IG and XM, could make FXTM’s education even more valuable.

Customer Support

Rating: 3.3

FXTM offers customer support in English, Chinese, Spanish, and Arabic, and it is accessible every day of the week.

You can reach its teams through live chat, email, WhatsApp, and Telegram, even on weekends.

The broker is also active on social media, including Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and YouTube, making it easy to stay connected. Plus, having a dedicated account manager adds a personal touch to the experience.

However, not having a phone support option can be frustrating when I need urgent help.

Some brokers offer 24/7 assistance, which is crucial during fast-moving market conditions.

That said, FXTM’s response times impress – live chat replies usually come within a minute and provide detailed answers to questions based on my personal interaction with them.

The ‘Help Center‘ is also well-organized and thorough, saving time when you want to troubleshoot independently.

If FXTM expanded to 24/7 customer service, it would make a big difference, especially for traders in different time zones.

Should You Trade With FXTM?

FXTM is an appealing choice because of its strong FCA regulation, which gives traders in the UK extra confidence.

The simplified account options make starting easy, and the ECN account has tight spreads. Furthermore, the added VPS support is excellent for running automated strategies without interruptions.

However, desktop trading options are limited since FXTM only supports MetaTrader. While the platform is solid, having more choices would be a plus.

The research and educational tools are helpful but not as comprehensive as those offered by some other brokers.

FXTM is a reliable choice with competitive spreads, but you should always weigh its costs and limitations against your trading needs before committing.
