Why Trade With Exness?
Exness is an excellent choice for active forex traders aiming to reduce costs after lowering spreads, enhancing execution speeds, and offering trading on over 100 currency pairs with more than 40 account currencies.
Pros
- 24/7 multilingual customer support by phone, email, and live chat, tested for speed and reliability.
- Execution speeds now average under 25ms, supporting short-term traders.
- Competitive spreads for USOIL and BTCUSD in 2024 start from 0 pips, with low commissions from $2 per side.
Cons
- Exness has increased its CFDs offerings, but still lacks real assets like ETFs, cryptocurrencies, or bonds.
- Besides a mediocre blog, educational resources are lacking, especially compared to category leaders like IG, which offer a more comprehensive trading journey for new traders.
- MetaTrader 4 and 5 are supported, but TradingView and cTrader are not, despite growing trader demand and support from brokers like Pepperstone.
Why Trade With XM?
With a $5 minimum deposit, advanced charting on MT4 and MT5, a growing range of markets, and a Zero account with spreads from 0.0, XM offers what traders need. They have even won our 'Best MT4/MT5 Broker' award recently.
Pros
- In late 2025, XM received a category 5 license from the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) of the United Arab Emirates, enhancing its regulatory standing and positioning it as a strong choice for traders in the Middle East.
- XM's customer support offers 24/7 assistance in 30 languages, with response times under 2 minutes and an expanding Telegram channel.
- XM’s Zero account is ideal for trading with spreads from 0.0 pips, 99.35% of orders executed in <1 second, without requotes or rejections.
Cons
- XM only uses MetaTrader platforms for desktop trading, meaning there is no customizable downloadable option for a more beginner-friendly experience with unique features.
- XM is lagging because it doesn't offer cTrader, which some professional traders prefer over MetaTrader for its better usability and advanced charting features.
- The XM app is user-friendly and offers unique copy trading products, but its technical analysis tools need enhancement for advanced traders.
Why Trade With AvaTrade?
AvaTrade provides traders with essential tools: an intuitive WebTrader, strong AvaProtect risk management, a quick 5-minute sign-up, and reliable support for fast-paced markets.
Pros
- The WebTrader performed well in our tests, featuring an easy-to-use interface for beginners and strong charting tools, including 6 chart layouts and over 60 technical indicators.
- AvaTrade's support team did well in tests, responding within 3 minutes and providing local support in major regions like the UK, Europe, and the Middle East.
- AvaTrade introduced AvaFutures for low-margin global market access and expanded in 2025 by adding CME’s Micro Grain Futures. Later that year, they integrated with TradingView.
Cons
- AvaTrade’s WebTrader has improved, but it needs more customization as widgets like market watch and watchlists can't be hidden, moved, or resized.
- The AvaSocial app is satisfactory but could be better. Its design, usability, and navigation between strategy providers and account management need improvement to compete with top platforms like eToro.
- Signing up is easy, but AvaTrade doesn't offer an ECN account like Pepperstone or IC Markets, which provides raw spreads and fast execution that many traders want.
Why Trade With IC?
IC offers competitive pricing, fast execution, and easy deposits. TradingView integration and the Raw Trader Plus account make it a strong choice for intermediate and advanced traders.
Pros
- IC won DayTrading.com's 2025 'Best MT4/MT5 Broker' award for its strong, well-developed MetaTrader integration.
- IC offers very tight spreads, with 0.0-pip spreads on major currency pairs, making it cost-effective for traders.
- You can trade more than 2,250 CFDs in various markets, such as forex, commodities, indices, stocks, bonds, and cryptocurrencies. This range enables varied trading strategies.
Cons
- IC offers metals and cryptos for trading through CFDs, but its selection is smaller than brokers like eToro, limiting options for traders interested in these assets.
- Despite having four top-tier third-party platforms, there is no in-house software or trading app specifically designed for new traders.
- Interest is not earned on unused funds, a feature commonly available at other platforms such as Interactive Brokers.
Why Trade With Pepperstone?
Pepperstone is a leading trading option, providing low spreads, quick execution, and advanced chart tools for experienced traders. It also supports new traders with no minimum deposit, thorough learning resources, and exceptional 24/5 support (18 hours on weekends). Based under ASIC regulation, Pepperstone's comprehensive service earned it the 'Best Aus Broker' award for 2025 by DayTrading.com in Australia.
Pros
- Pepperstone is a low-cost broker for active traders, with spreads from 0.0 on Razor accounts and Active Trader rebates up to 30% on indices and commodities and $3 per forex lot.
- Pepperstone now offers trading in pre-IPO perpetual futures, like SpaceX (SPCX.US-PERP), in certain areas, including the UAE.
- Award-winning customer support is available by phone, email, or live chat. Response times are under five minutes during testing, with friendly agents who know the products and trading tools.
Cons
- Pepperstone has discontinued support for several tools that enhanced the trading experience for active retail traders, including Autochartist, Capitalise.ai, and a free VPS for eligible traders (now only available to pro traders in some countries).
- Overnight holding fees at Pepperstone are higher than some Market Maker brokers (often Benchmark + 2.5%). This is ideal for traders and forex scalpers but not great for swing traders who keep positions open overnight.
- Even with expanded market options, crypto CFD offerings remain limited compared to brokers like Eightcap, and investing in actual coins is not available.

How We Chose The Best Brokers For Traders In Kenya
To secure a spot in our list of leading trading providers for Kenyans:
- Brokers had to be authorized by the Kenyan Capital Markets Authority (CMA). This was a non-negotiable to ensure we only show trusted providers that should follow Kenyan rules, in part designed to protect retail investors. We confirmed the regulatory credentials of every broker listed above on the CMA’s licensee database.
- Brokers had to accept residents in Kenya. We checked this in two ways. First, we signed up for accounts using a Nairobi IP address to make sure Kenyans are accepted. We also checked that ‘Kenya’ wasn’t on brokers’ lists of rejected countries.
- We applied our hands-on testing methodology. This involves our experienced traders and brokerage experts running tests across 8 core areas, recording over 200 data points per firm, and noting their hands-on observations, feeding into our brokers’ overall ratings, which brokers are ranked by. The BrokerListings.com team has spent north of 500 hours testing the trading providers listed above.

Which Broker Is Right For Me As A Kenyan Trader?
There’s no universal best broker for every Kenyan because every trader has different needs depending on their starting capital, preferred markets, trading strategy, and risk appetite. Our comparison tables and drop-down menus above are designed to help you compare and find a suitable provider. Still, there are some general questions Kenyan traders, in particular, should ask:
- Is the broker trustworthy? This is especially vital because we’ve seen more scam brokers originate from Kenya in 2026 than any other country in our deep-dive investigations. In fact, we’ve explicitly warned against TagOption, BetaBinary, and Nova Forex Trading, which all have domains that end in .ke or clearly target Kenyans. The most effective ways to check a broker trustworthiness is to see if they’re regulated by the CMA, the nearby FSCA in South Africa, or a Category A body in BrokerListings.com’s regulator classification system. Also look for a long track record (over 5 years), positive user reviews from a wide range of sources (keep in mind small volumes of reviews can be easier to fake), and test making small withdrawals before putting serious Shillings with a broker.
- Does the broker offer an account based in Kenyan Shillings (KES)? A broker with a KES trading account lets you deposit, view balances, pay commissions, and withdraw in your local currency without having to pay what can be an around 0.5% conversion charge if you’d transfer from KES to a USD trading account. We’ve opened multiple trading accounts in KES – it’s usually just a question of selecting ‘KES’ from the currency options during the sign-up stage.
- Are local payment options available? A broker with payment methods popular in Kenya can make deposits and withdrawals smoother, secure, and potentially remove additional transaction fees. For example, we’ve rounded up the best brokers with M-Pesa, a particularly popular mobile money solution within Kenya. Alternatively, you may want to see our top Airtel brokers. If you have questions about payments, go to the broker’s support team before making a deposit. Not many offer support in Swahili, but many top firms offer English assistance 24/5 or 24/7.
- Can I trade Kenyan markets? There aren’t many brokers that offer trading on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) – we’ve checked. Trading on forex pairs containing KES, such as KES/USD, is supported at a minority of online brokers. Some brokers offer trading on commodities that Kenya plays a prominent role in growing, such as coffee. Most global brokers ultimately offer trading opportunities on developing and emerging markets, alongside major hubs like the US and Europe.
- Are the trading tools high-quality? The best way to check this is to start with a demo trading account. Then you can try the platforms (normally a proprietary web-based terminal built for newer traders and/or third-party platforms like MT4 and TradingView). You can often then test drive any trading apps, get a feel for any integrated research, news feeds, social sentiment, and economic calendars, though it’s rare to find an integrated one that shows announcements from Kenya’s central bank. You can also test strategies and trial different order types and risk management parameters.

FAQ
Who Regulates Online Trading Brokers In Kenya?
The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) oversees online trading brokers in Kenya. The CMA is a ‘Category C’ regulator in our regulator bandings. This is because the CMA has more lax requirements of brokers than Category A or B bodies.
For example, the CMA allows retail leverage up to 1:400 whereas, EU, UK, and Australian regulators cap leverage at 1:30. This means Kenyans can supersize trading positions and thus if the markets move against them quickly, lose significant sums quickly.
Also, welcome bonuses and online trading incentives are permitted under Kenyan laws, whereas EU, UK and Australian regulators have banned them for retail investors after growing concerns that they often have unfair withdrawal requirements and may encourage over-trading. Even though they’re allowed in Kenya, we never recommend choosing a broker solely because of a joining promotion.
Finally, there is no statutory compensation scheme available to retail investors in Kenya should the broker become insolvent, where as regions like the UK and some countries in the EU do have these.
What Is The Minimum Amount Of Kenyan Shillings I Need To Open A Brokerage Account?
You can open a brokerage account with 0 KES. We’ve seen a growing number of brokers move to having low or no starting deposit in recent years, making online trading more accessible to smaller, hobby-scale traders. If this is important to you, see our pick of brokers with the lowest joining deposits.
