Is NordFX Allowed In India?

NordFX operates like many overseas online brokers that accept Indian residents do. It’s not authorized by the RBI, which oversees forex brokers, nor does it hold a license with the SEBI, which oversees securities brokers and exchange-traded currency derivatives.

The RBI also added NordFX to its Alert List of unauthorized forex trading platforms on 19 November 2025, as you can see below. This does not make NordFX a scam broker – it means it’s not licensed in India, and therefore using it brings certain risks.

Does NordFX Still Accept Traders From India?

Yes, NordFX accepts Indian residents. It has a specific Indian landing page (https://nordfx.com/en-IN) that, when searching for the brand from a Mumbai IP address, we arrived at.

As you can see below, we were able to select India as our country in the registration form, as well as providing an Indian phone number. Our application was approved after we verified our email, and we could then open a real trading account from the NordFX client dashboard.

What Are The Risks If I Still Use NordFX?

Using NordFX from India means you may not be compliant with local rules. For instance, under the 1999 Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), Indian residents should only trade specified INR-paired currency derivatives on certain local exchanges, notably the NSE and BSE, plus some permitted non-INR currency derivatives. Trading spot forex and CFDs on margin through an overseas broker counts as a restricted activity.

The practical risks are that should you have a dispute with NordFX over a withdrawal, for example, Indian law enforcement and regulatory bodies may not help you raise disputes or recover the funds. There’s also a chance, though we’ve not seen widely reported cases of this, that your bank or payment provider blocks transfers to NordFX due to it operating as an overseas provider of forex and CFD margin trading.

It’s also worth noting that NordFX, which we’ve tested, doesn’t provide a fully tailored service for Indian residents. For example, it doesn’t offer a trading account based in Indian Rupees (INR), though it does provide local deposit options like UPI and PhonePe. It doesn’t offer trading on forex pairs that contain the INR, such as USD/INR, nor does it offer trading on the Bombay Stock Exchange or National Stock Exchange of India.
