PrimeXBT Safety Assessment
We used a data-based process to judge if PrimeXBT is safe. We scored the broker from 0 to 5 in each area, then added up the scores for a total out of 100.
« Make Full Width »| Metric | Score (0-5) | PrimeXBT Details |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Regulated | 3/5 | Partly – PrimeXBT (PTY) LTD holds an FSCA licence, but it acts as an intermediary; a separate market maker is your counterparty. Its El Salvador arm sits on the CNAD register and holds a BCR registration; the Saint Lucia entity is unregulated. There are also Seychelles FSA and Mauritius FSC licences. None is a top-tier regulator in our regulator banding system. |
| 2. Investor Compensation Schemes | 1/5 | No – No statutory scheme like the UK’s FSCS covers any PrimeXBT entity. There could have been up to €20k compensation available through the Financial Commission, but PrimeXBT voluntarily withdrew from the Commission in May 2026. South Africa’s FAIS Ombud can award up to R3.5 million for misconduct, not insolvency. |
| 3. Age | 4/5 | Founded in 2018. The FSCA licence arrived in November 2024 through a renamed local company, formerly Stack Advisory (Pty) Ltd. In contrast, scam trading brokers often vanish within weeks or months. |
| 4. Listed On Stock Exchange | 0/5 | No – Privately held, so there are no public filings or audited annual reports to check. |
| 5. Registered As A Bank | 0/5 | No – Brokers also operating as banks face very strict capital rules that provide strong financial transparency. |
| 6. Third-Party User Reviews | 2/5 | Trustpilot withholds PrimeXBT’s rating, saying it has removed fake reviews. The approximately 425 reviews are visibly split sharply, with roughly 48% five-star and 29% one-star. The South African App Store listing shows 4.7/5 from approximately 90 ratings. |
| 7. Withdrawal Complaints | 2.5/5 | Some unverified reviewers say money left their accounts without consent, including a 950 USDT balance and a $97 deduction; PrimeXBT says each case is under review. Others report UPI deposits never credited. Withdrawal complaints are not uncommon at crypto platforms, often due to complex KYC and AML requirements. |
| 8. Handling Of Complaints | 4/5 | PrimeXBT replied to 19 of its 20 most recent Trustpilot reviews, usually within a week, and most replies promise an ‘internal review’; it confirmed one disputed UPI deposit was later credited. It publishes a complaints procedure, and South African clients can escalate to the FAIS Ombud. Offshore clients have no outside dispute body. |
| 9. Regulatory Fines & Infractions | 3/5 | No fines, but two confirmed regulator actions. France’s AMF blacklisted primexbt.com on 7 June 2021 for offering services without authorisation. Italy’s CONSOB ordered it to stop serving Italians (resolution 22119, 16 December 2021), then announced a site block on 23 December 2021. Neither is a fraud finding. |
| 10. Accounts Audited By Big Four | 0/5 | No published audited accounts, and we found no proof-of-reserves report or independent attestation covering client crypto. |
| 11. Hands-On Testing Experience | 4.5/5 | We opened an account with the Seychelles entity, PXBT Trading Ltd, in under 10 minutes, found the proprietary web-based PXTrader 2.0 platform and the mobile app stable and user-friendly over a week, and measured EUR/USD spreads of 0.9 to 1 pip and Bitcoin at $48.90. MT5 is also available. |
| 12. Working Support | 4/5 | PrimeXBT provides 24/7 live chat and email (support@help.primexbt.com) plus a Help Centre, but no phone number. Its Gordon’s Bay and Saint Lucia offices keep weekday hours, 07:00 to 16:00 UTC. We got live chat replies in under a couple of minutes across a week of test queries, though we had to wait hours and sometimes days for email replies. |
| 13. Security | 4.5/5 | Multi-signature cold storage and hardware security modules rated FIPS 140-2 Level 3, plus 2FA and biometric app login. We found no reports of a platform-wide hack. Impersonators are active with lookalikes such as ‘primexy.net’ and ‘primexbtde.xyz’, and we found PrimeXBT promo pages planted on over 20 unrelated sites, including university and municipal subdomains. Only log in at ‘primexbt.com’. |
| 14. Realistic Marketing | 3/5 | Risk warnings run site-wide, but its account types page leads with 1:2000 leverage, trading bonuses, up to 10% cashback and 0% stop-out accounts beside a ‘Regulated and secure’ badge. The FSCA entity caps leverage at 1:400. |
| 15. Industry Reputation | 3/5 | Well known among crypto derivatives traders and industry experts. Independent reviewers rate its trustworthiness modestly and around 3.5/5 to 5.1/10. |
| 16. Segregated Client Accounts | 4/5 | There’s segregated client money at every entity. PrimeXBT doesn’t name the banks or custodians holding it, and offshore supervisors check this less closely than top-tier regulators. |
| 17. Negative Balance Protection (NBP) | 5/5 | Yes – On all accounts. The only catch is that any bonus credit gets written off first, and the reset can take up to an hour. |
| 18. Number Of Clients | 4.5/5 | PrimeXBT says it has 1,000,000+ clients in 150+ countries. |
| 19. Transparent Fees | 5/5 | Its public fees page and account types page list crypto futures at 0.01% maker and from 0.015% taker, with CFD costs in the spread. During our testing we found no PrimeXBT deposit, withdrawal or inactivity fees. Network and payment-provider charges can still apply. |
| 20. Company Transparency | 3/5 | Entity names, registration numbers and addresses sit in the site footer, and its Trustpilot profile lists the FSCA entity’s Gordon’s Bay address. But the site names no CEO or parent company. Ownership details primarily come from outside reporting. |

Professional Opinion
I would keep at PrimeXBT what I am willing to lose, and I would take out profits regularly.
In my opinion and based on my dedicated safety investigation, it is not a scam. PrimeXBT has been operating since 2018. From my experience, withdrawals are processed quickly, the platform is reliable, and the broker has a real South African licence. However, this license is for an intermediary, not the company that actually holds your trades, and there is no compensation scheme to protect your account if the company fails.

PrimeXBT platform
Actions taken in 2021 by France’s AMF and Italy’s CONSOB, a Trustpilot rating that has been withheld an inactive dispute-resolution membership, and the lack of published accounts or reserve proofs all suggest the same thing: you are trusting the company’s word much more than robust regulatory oversight.
If you want crypto futures and high leverage in one app, PrimeXBT offers that. I would use it as a trading platform, not a place to store your savings, so you may want to think about keeping your long-term funds with a broker regulated by a top-tier authority.
If you plan to use PrimeXBT, check which company your account is with when you sign up, as this affects which rules protect you. Read the bonus terms before accepting an offer, and check you’re on ‘primexbt.com’, instead of clicking different links from search results or social media. Try the demo account first, and test a small withdrawal before making a larger deposit.
