What Can You Do On The eToro App?

The primary purpose of the eToro app is to facilitate the buying and selling of financial instruments. The simplest way to do this is to search for an instrument in the ‘Discover’ tab. For example, you can see below that I searched for SpaceX stock.

This then brings up an overview with details on the asset, including, if you scroll down, the latest news relating to the asset. You can also press the ‘Chart’ tab to bring up a TradingView-powered chart where you can run technical analysis, a technique popular with active traders, or the ‘Analysis’ tab for detailed financial data and insights on the asset.

If you press the green ‘Trade’ button, you can then place a Short/Buy order with details like the trade size and any stop loss or take profit levels to manage risk.

The eToro app is also different to many investment apps we’ve used in that it offers CopyTrader and Smart Portfolios. CopyTrader lets you mirror the trades of experienced traders, giving you the ability to find and choose strategy providers based on the sector they focus on, their percentage returns, and the number of copiers they have. This can all be done from within the eToro app.

Smart Portfolios are essentially baskets of assets and portfolios focused on a particular theme, such as Chip-Tech, TheBigBanks, and BigNonTech. These are designed for long-term investors and require a $500 minimum investment. You can find, invest, and track your Smart Portfolio returns all from the app.

You can also use the eToro app for AI-powered trading following its major upgrades in this department in July 2026. The Tori agent can provide insights on assets, summarize news, and, helpfully, it remembers your history, so it knows your previous questions and account details, which saves having to re-enter the same information.

The other significant use case is agentic trading that lets you run autonomous trading strategies through an API, and to configure and manage trading agents through natural language conversations. It’s amongst the first mobile investment apps we’ve seen to introduce AI agent trading in a user-friendly mobile app.

Is The eToro App Safe?

Yes, the eToro app is fairly safe. It was launched and maintained by the global eToro brokerage that’s regulated by top-tier financial bodies, listed on the NASDAQ (ETOR), has won multiple industry awards, amassed a huge client base in the tens of millions, and has a relatively clean track record. You can learn more on this in our safety review of eToro.

That said, no investing app can ever be thought of as fully safe, as the online trading products they provide access to remain high-risk. You could lose any money you invest through the eToro mobile platform.

Pros And Cons

Between the BrokerListings.com team, thousands of hours have been spent real-money trading at eToro, including using its app daily for over five years. Here are the key strengths and weaknesses from our use:

Pros

  • It has a simple, uncluttered design with a distinctive white and green color scheme that feels modern and user-friendly. The learning curve is noticeably shorter than on other investment apps we’ve tested.
  • It’s built for analysis, not just simple order placement, with 8 chart types, 9 timeframes, over 105 technical indicators, the ability to zoom in and out by pinching, and full-screen mode.
  • The social network can be felt throughout the app – the feed has many market comments and trade ideas published every hour, while you can share charting analysis in a couple of clicks to the eToro community but also on social channels like X, Facebook and WhatsApp – it’s clearly built around knowledge sharing.

Cons

  • The app’s main panels/widgets and charts don’t automatically switch to landscape when you rotate your phone, which would help when viewing detailed charts and market data.
  • The economic calendar is pretty basic – it doesn’t show in a calendar-style format for clearer viewing – just a list, and there aren’t importance filters to help cut through the noise to events that will have the biggest impact on markets.
  • For the optimal mobile trading experience, you need to qualify for the higher tiers. For example, Pro Charts are only available to Silver members, which requires a $5,000 minimum balance, and thus will be out of reach for many newer investors. Other top-rated trading apps we’ve used don’t lock the best tools behind higher payment thresholds.

User Sentiment

We’ve analyzed the feedback of other mobile users of the eToro app on both the App Store and Google Play to identify the key themes and patterns.

The apps get majority positive feedback, with the main strengths praised being CopyTrader and the social community features, the beginner-friendly user interface, and the demo account. We’ve read hundreds of eToro app reviews, and this feedback comes up a lot.

There are also some unhappy users across both Apple and Android devices. Their complaints mainly centre around slow support, often driven by the AI-focused live chat agent, and failed or slow payments, especially with crypto transfers incurring recurring fees. We’ve also read lots of user reviews complaining of steep spreads and overnight fees, plus frustration when app updates mean having to reconfigure login settings like biometric access. We’ve had it ourselves where the 2FA hasn’t worked, and we’ve been locked out of the app for a couple of days.
