Does IC Markets Accept US Clients?
IC Markets, now just IC, does not accept clients from the US. The United States is on their list of restricted countries; their support team told us they don’t accept US residents, and we couldn’t open an account from New York.

Is IC Markets Available In The USA?
IC definitely doesn’t accept residents from the United States. We know this because it says clearly in its website footer: “Restricted Countries: Raw Trading Ltd does not provide services for residents of certain countries such as the United States of America”, as you can see below. Raw Trading Ltd is a key entity behind the IC brand.
The broker confirms this position in the dedicated FAQ in its Help Centre, entitled “Does IC Markets Accept US Clients?”

We also asked the broker’s support team on live chat. As you can see below, they confirmed residents of the United States aren’t accepted due to “governmental restrictions and our company policies”.

Live chat
However, because it was an AI-powered chatbot, we triple-checked by trying to sign up for a live IC trading account from a New York IP address. But as you can see below, there is no option to select the United States in the ‘Country of Residence’ drop-down.

Live account sign up form
Some residents may wonder whether they should select a different country and try to sign up anyway; however, we don’t recommend this. You will need to provide copies of your ID and address as part of Know Your Customer (KYC) checks, so you’ll likely get rejected then.
If you do provide false documents at this point, you run a high risk that when you try to withdraw, IC detects it some other way, such as through your IP address, and refuses to process the payment.
Why Doesn’t IC Accept Traders From The United States?
There are several reasons why IC may not operate in the USA:
- It specialises in contracts for difference, better known as CFDs, a leveraged derivative that is effectively prohibited in the United States because it doesn’t align with derivatives and securities regulations.
- It would need approval from the relevant financial regulators in the US, such as the NFA and CFTC, depending on the product it offered to citizens, and US regulators have strict compliance and capital requirements that are costly to meet.
- It would need to amend some of its trading conditions for a US audience; for instance, it offers leverage up to 1:5000 while the maximum allowed to retail forex traders in the US is 1:50. It may also need to introduce local payment options like ACH transfers.
