How To Connect AvaTrade To MT5
You cannot use your standard AvaTrade web platform password to log directly into MetaTrader 5 (MT5). Instead, you need to follow these four steps.

1. Extracting Your Broker Credentials
First, log in to your AvaTrade account dashboard on the broker’s website. Navigate to the trading accounts tab and locate the section to add a new account. Select MT5 as your platform type, choose between a real or demo environment, and set your base currency.
The system will generate a unique MT5 account number and assign a specific server name, such as ‘AvaTradeMarkets-Real 1-MT5’. Write these down along with the new trading password you create. You will need these exact data points to establish the remote connection.
2. Setting Up the MetaTrader 5 Terminal
Next, you need the actual software running on your device. If you don’t want to use the web-based MT5, which AvaTrade supports, download the desktop terminal directly from the platforms section of the AvaTrade portal or get the mobile app from your official app store. Run the installation file and follow the prompts in the basic setup wizard. We’ve downloaded MT5 on Windows and Mac – the installation wizard is easy to follow.
Once the installation finishes, launch the platform. If you are using a desktop, a default chart workspace opens, and an automated window might prompt you to open an account. You can close that pop-up window immediately, as you already have your credentials ready.
3. Locating The AvaTrade Network
To link the software to AvaTrade, navigate to the top menu bar on the desktop terminal. Click ‘File’, then select ‘Open an Account’ from the dropdown list. This opens a configuration window with a search bar specifically designed to find broker servers.
Type ‘AvaTrade’ into the search box and click the ‘find your broker’ button. The platform scans the global network and returns a list of matching entities. Select your AvaTrade region, such as ‘AvaTrade Markets Ltd’, from the list and hit the next button to proceed to the authorization stage.
4. Finalizing The Secure Terminal Login
The final window presents you with options for configuring the account. Check the box labeled ‘Connect with an existing trade account.’ This activates the input fields for your specific broker details.
Type or paste your MT5 account number into the login field and enter your corresponding trading password. Use the dropdown menu underneath to select the exact server name that matches your dashboard credentials. Click finish, and you will hear a connection chime. Your account balance and open positions will be displayed in the terminal window.
