Quick Verdict

Neither eToro nor Exness accepts traders from USA. Instead, we recommend Interactive Brokers, a top-rated alternative that impressed our team during testing and accepts traders from your location.

eToro is stronger for investing, copy trading, education, and a wide choice of shares, ETFs, and crypto. Exness is built more for active forex trading, with lower-cost account choices, MetaTrader access, and faster day-to-day support.

Both brokers offer low-entry accounts, free demo trading, mobile apps, CFDs, and multi-asset trading. Their research coverage is closely comparable, but they take very different approaches: eToro focuses on social investing, while Exness focuses on trading conditions and platform choice.

eToro provides higher-trust retail regulation and more long-term portfolio tools. Exness offers more base currencies, crypto funding, near-zero-spread accounts, automated trading support, and 24/7 multilingual service.

Regulation & Trust

eToro Exness
Trust Rating 4.3 4.0

eToro offers the stronger safety framework for retail clients. We checked its FCA, CySEC, and ASIC permissions and found coverage from well-known financial regulators, alongside segregated client money and encrypted account protection.

Exness has operated since 2008, uses segregated funds, negative-balance protection, and PCI DSS data standards. However, we found that its FCA and CySEC permissions serve institutional or B2B activity rather than retail clients, while many retail accounts fall under FSCA, CMA, or offshore regulators.

Both names attract impersonation scams, so we checked official-domain guidance and regulator warnings before opening account pages. eToro has faced regulatory action in Australia and Canada, while Exness has received warnings in markets including the Philippines; this makes careful jurisdiction checks important with either broker.

Accounts & Banking

eToro Exness
Accounts Rating 4.1 4.4

Exness provides the more flexible funding and account setup. We opened its account using Google login, confirmed email and phone details, uploaded identity and address documents, and received approval in under one day.

Exness offers Standard, Standard Cent, Pro, Raw Spread, and Zero accounts, while eToro keeps things simpler with one main live account. We adjusted Exness leverage from the dashboard up to 1:2000; this is useful for experienced traders but raises risk sharply.

We recorded instant card deposits at Exness, around 30 minutes for Skrill and Neteller, and up to one hour for Bitcoin or Tether transfers. eToro deposits could also arrive instantly, but withdrawals took from several days to around one week, with a $5 withdrawal fee and a $30 minimum withdrawal.

Exness supports more than 40 base currencies and accepts crypto payments, which reduces conversion friction for many international traders. eToro supports USD, EUR, and GBP, does not accept crypto deposits, and converted our US-share funding to USD at less attractive exchange rates.

Both brokers provide practice accounts, but the experience differs. We used eToro’s $100,000 virtual portfolio to explore manual trades and CopyTrader, while Exness gave us $10,000 adjustable virtual funds; Exness demo accounts can disappear after inactivity.

There are small limits to note. Exness Standard Cent supports only forex and metals and has six base-currency options, while eToro’s first-deposit requirement can range from $10 to $10,000 by country.

Assets & Markets

eToro Exness
Assets Rating 3.8 3.5

eToro has the broader market range for building a diversified portfolio. We searched its asset discovery pages and found more than 5,000 instruments, including over 4,100 global shares, 432 ETFs, 55 forex pairs, 32 commodities, 21 indices, and more than 100 cryptocurrencies.

We also located 45 US shares available for extended-hours trading, including major names such as Tesla, Amazon, and Netflix. Fractional share orders from $10 made it possible to gain share exposure without buying a full unit.

Exness is better focused on CFDs and forex, with more than 100 currency pairs, plus CFDs on stocks, indices, commodities, and cryptocurrencies. It can add popular equities, including SpaceX after its IPO, but its individual-share range is smaller and it does not offer ETFs, options, bonds, or interest on unused cash.

Both brokers cover the main speculative markets, including forex, crypto, indices, and commodities. eToro is the more complete option for investors who want real-share-style exposure, ETFs, wider crypto choice, and global market variety from one account.

Fees & Costs

eToro Exness
Costs Rating 3.4 3.8

Exness is the lower-cost choice for frequent forex trading. Its 2024 spread reduction improved Raw Spread and Zero pricing, while the Standard account has spreads from 0.2 pips and no commission.

For a comparable EUR/USD trade, we calculated the cost of opening and closing 1 standard lot, using a $10 pip value. eToro’s observed 1.0-pip spread equals about $10 with no forex commission, while an Exness Raw Spread trade at 0.0 pips plus $3.50 per-side commission costs about $7 round trip.

eToro works well for commission-free stock purchases and charges a clear 1% crypto fee, but its forex pricing is less attractive for high-turnover traders. We also recorded a 35-pip platinum spread and a 6-point Dow Jones spread on its platform during peak trading hours.

Exness has no inactivity fee and waives most deposit and withdrawal costs, although e-wallet and crypto processors can add small charges. eToro charges $10 per month after 12 months of inactivity, plus possible currency-conversion costs and its $5 withdrawal charge.

Exness’s many pricing models can be hard to compare at first, especially for new traders deciding between Standard, Pro, Raw Spread, and Zero accounts. eToro’s fees are easier to understand, but the simple structure does not deliver ECN-style forex costs.

Platforms & Tools

eToro Exness
Platforms Rating 2.8 3.9

Exness gives active traders the deeper platform set. We logged into Exness Terminal, MT4, and MT5, then compared order tools, charts, and account controls; MT5 added Depth of Market, extra order types, and an economic calendar.

Exness Terminal uses TradingView-powered charts and gave us a clean watchlist and quick account management. The layout is easier than MetaTrader for new users, but we could not select advanced chart types such as Renko, and MT4 and MT5 still look dated beside newer platforms.

We also checked the Exness VPS rules: free hosting requires either a $2,000 balance, or a $500 balance plus $1.5 million monthly trading volume. This can keep automated systems running, while MT4 and MT5 allow expert advisors and algorithmic strategies.

eToro offers a much simpler proprietary web and mobile platform, but it does not support MT4, MT5, external bots, or automated trading systems. We switched between its Overview, Chart, and News views, placed orders through the unified dashboard, and used TradingView charting with nine chart types and more than 100 indicators.

eToro’s 2026 brand redesign introduced a more technology-led look, while eToro Edge, launched in July 2026, added a more professional charting package for active traders. Its July 2026 mobile update also introduced Tori, an AI investing agent that can organise insights and manage multiple sub-accounts, though AI output still needs human review.

CopyTrader remains eToro’s standout tool. We filtered investors by risk level and asset type, set our own stop-loss and take-profit levels, and found copying easy to start, though it can encourage a “set and forget” approach that is risky without regular checks.

Research

eToro Exness
Research Rating 4.3 4.3

Research quality is closely balanced, but each broker serves a different style of trader. eToro is stronger for in-house market commentary, weekly videos, earnings material, analyst content, news, an economic calendar, and its Digest & Invest podcast.

We opened eToro’s analyst pages and checked price projections, trader sentiment, and stock reports. Some material required a funded account or Club access, including Finchat Pro, and the podcast and research feeds were not always fully embedded in the trading screen.

Exness is more useful for technical and trade-planning work. We used its calculator to enter leverage, account type, and trade size, then reviewed its outputs for pip value, margin, spread, and commission before placing a sample order.

Exness also provides Trading Central signals, FXStreet news, a live currency converter, and an economic calendar. Its calendar filters felt basic, and we had to leave Exness Terminal to reach some research tools, but the Trading Central material is useful for chart-led decisions.

Education

eToro Exness
Education Rating 4.0 2.8

eToro is much better for learning the basics of trading and investing. We worked through Learning Academy articles, videos, webinars, blog guides, and archived YouTube sessions, finding material for beginners as well as more experienced users.

Its main weakness is organisation. We found that market analysis, promotional content, and educational lessons can sit close together, so a new trader may need to check whether they are reading a guide or a market opinion.

Exness offers helpful strategy articles, market insights, and a clear Help Center that explained trading terms and platform features well. However, we could not find structured courses, regular webinars, video lessons, or a broad learning path, leaving beginners to piece together the basics themselves.

Customer Support

eToro Exness
Support Rating 2.5 4.5

Exness offers more available and responsive support. We contacted live chat about withdrawal fees and received a useful reply within minutes; for a VPS question, email took a few hours but provided a detailed explanation.

Exness support runs 24/7 in 15 languages, which is valuable when markets or payment issues arise outside standard weekday hours. It still lacks phone support, dedicated account managers, and in-platform video guidance.

eToro provides a chatbot, live-agent access, and ticket support during 24/5, but no direct phone line or normal email channel. We found this restrictive when seeking time-sensitive help, and access to an account manager is not available to every client.

Is eToro or Exness Better For Beginners?

eToro is the better starting point for most beginners. Its $100,000 demo account, simple one-account structure, CopyTrader controls, fractional shares from $10, and broad Learning Academy make the first steps easier to understand.

Exness also starts from $10 and its Standard Cent account supports micro-lot trading, which is excellent for practising small forex positions. Still, its account choices, leverage up to 1:2000, and thinner education can overwhelm a new trader, even though its 24/7 support is much easier to reach.

Is eToro or Exness Better For Experienced Traders?

Exness is the better fit for experienced traders who need automation and forex-focused infrastructure. MT4, MT5, expert advisors, flexible leverage, Raw Spread and Zero accounts, and VPS access support algorithmic and high-volume trading.

eToro Edge improves eToro’s advanced charting, but the platform still has no MetaTrader connection, API-led workflow, or automated-strategy support. eToro is more suitable for experienced investors who value market breadth, social investing, and portfolio management over algorithmic execution.

Is eToro or Exness Better For Short-term Traders?

Exness is better for day traders and short-term forex traders. We compared the 1-lot EUR/USD example and found an estimated $7 Raw Spread round-trip cost versus about $10 at eToro, while Exness also supports scalping, MetaTrader automation, and rapid account funding.

eToro’s 1.0-pip EUR/USD spread, no bot support, and more investment-led design make it less compelling for rapid trade turnover. Its charts are capable, especially after eToro Edge, but Exness provides the more specialised execution setup.

Is eToro or Exness Better For Long-Term Traders?

eToro is better for long-term traders and investors. It provides more than 4,100 shares, 432 ETFs, fractional investing, a broad crypto range, CopyTrader, and extended-hours access to selected US stocks.

Exness is mainly a CFD and forex broker and does not offer ETFs, bonds, options, or interest on uninvested cash. Its lack of an inactivity fee is useful for dormant accounts, but eToro offers far more ways to build and follow a long-term multi-asset portfolio.

Is eToro or Exness Better For Trading On Mobile?

Exness is the better option for mobile trading. Its app experience combines account management with access to Exness Terminal and MetaTrader, while the broker’s 24/7 support is available when mobile users need help away from a desktop.

eToro’s app is clean and offers real-time orders, historical prices, support access, and CopyTrader from a phone. The Tori AI agent upgrade adds useful organisation and multi-account features, but Exness delivers the stronger all-round mobile experience for active trading.

Why Pick eToro Over Exness?

Pick eToro if you want stronger retail regulatory coverage, a wider investing universe, commission-free stock dealing, ETFs, fractional shares, and social investing. Its CopyTrader network, $100,000 demo account, Learning Academy, and easy dashboard make it especially useful for investors who want one place for shares, crypto, CFDs, research, and community ideas.

eToro is also the clearer choice for people building a longer-term portfolio rather than trading forex all day. The main trade-off is higher forex costs, slower withdrawals, and fewer tools for automation.

Why Pick Exness Over eToro?

Pick Exness if low-cost forex trading, account choice, high leverage, MetaTrader access, and automated strategies matter most. Raw Spread and Zero accounts, more than 100 currency pairs, over 40 base currencies, crypto funding, no inactivity fee, and qualifying VPS access give active traders more control.

Exness is also a good fit for traders who need round-the-clock multilingual help and fast payment processing. The trade-off is a narrower investment range, weaker beginner education, and less robust retail regulatory protection in many regions.
